Background
The AIIMS framework specifies that an Incident Action Plan be developed for all incidents attended. The electronic Incident Action Plan (eIAP) has been developed to document and enhance incident action plans.

The eIAP is an incident management tool that plays a key role in ensuring incident safety. It is a system used by agencies across Australia and New Zealand to enhance and document decision-making during emergencies.

The eIAP has been developed in a partnership between MFB, QFRS and NZFS. The program is also used by the NTFS and the ACTFB.

The aim of the program is to provide an electronic incident action planning tool that is usable by all agencies and which can be customised to suit individual agency requirements. The eIAP was trialled by agencies in 2007 to establish the suitability of the product. The multi-user version was created in 2009 and has continued to be developed and improved.

Future
The eIAP Integrated project is developing the eIAP to allow data to be self-populated. This has been discussed in the context of both the Victorian Common Operating Picture (COP) project and the DSE ICT project. It is intended that the eIAP will be able to integrate with other new systems. Cloud based technology will be used for multi-agency dissemination of information.

An iPAD application is also being developed for access to information such as mapping, resources and fireground accountability checking. The iPAD application will enable users to add or change information. eIAP iPAD will deliver access via networks or Cloud based technology for multiple agencies.

Senior Operational Officers are supportive of eIAP. It is regarded as a critical tool for Command Staff for managing and documenting incidents now and into the future.
